Asahi Beer breaks ground on new Tosu plant in Saga, aiming for 2029 start

Asahi Breweries held a groundbreaking ceremony in Tosu, Saga Prefecture for a new brewery that will succeed its aging Hakata plant in Fukuoka, targeting operation from January 2029. Built in Tosu's new industrial cluster (about 27 ha), the plant is designed for annual output of roughly 460 million large-bottle-equivalent units, supplying Kyushu, Okinawa and Yamaguchi as well as exports to East Asia (including South Korea), Singapore and Australia. Construction costs have roughly doubled from an initial ~JPY 40 billion plan on higher building costs, pushing the project to about JPY 80 billion.
