Frequently asked questions
About the data
How often is the database updated?
The collection pipeline runs seven times a day (Japan time), catching same-day disclosures including the after-market-close rush. New entries are published after passing QA — typically the same day or the next morning.
Where does the data come from?
Only sources the party published itself, or a statutory or government disclosure. EDINET annual-report facility-plan tables, the newsrooms of 300+ companies read directly on their own domains, METI subsidy award lists, and prefectural and municipal investment-agreement announcements. Every entry is built and verified against that source.
Do you translate news from other media?
No. We publish only what the company, the filing or the government said itself, translated and structured into English. Trade and regional press are not collected: a report about an announcement is not the announcement, and reproducing one raises terms-of-use questions we would rather not have. If a project reaches us only through reporting, we go to the party's own disclosure or we leave it out.
How accurate are the investment amounts?
Amounts are extracted from the original filing and machine-checked against the source text (including an order-of-magnitude cross-check), then human-reviewed before publication. When a filing doesn't disclose an amount, the field stays empty — we never estimate.
What does 'construction phase' mean?
Each project is tagged planned (announced, not yet started), construction (ground broken), or completed (operational). The phase reflects the status at the time of the source document.
A project is missing or has an error. Can I report it?
Yes, please — email hello@jscope.tech. Corrections are verified against primary sources and fixed quickly. Coverage suggestions for new sources are equally welcome.
