Toyota to deploy AI and robotics at new Aichi plant

Toyota Motor President Kenta Kon said in his first interview since taking office that the new vehicle-assembly plant the company is planning in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture — its first new domestic plant since 2012, for which land has already been secured and operation is targeted for the early 2030s — will use AI and robotics to maximize efficiency while freeing human workers for higher-value tasks. Investment amount and detailed schedule have not been disclosed.
