TSMC to accelerate construction of Kumamoto second fab

TSMC reported record quarterly profit driven by AI-related chip demand and said it will speed up the launch of new plants in Japan. The comments are seen as referring to accelerating construction of its second Kumamoto fab (Kikuyo Town), targeting mass production start in 2028.
