Yamato Steel, the domestic electric-furnace steelmaking subsidiary of Yamato Kogyo, is running a long-term equipment modernization programme at its Himeji headquarters in Hyogo Prefecture. The programme covers rolling mill replacement, electrical system renewal and related works, and is expected to raise production capacity by 20%. Total planned investment is ¥50 billion, of which ¥19.1 billion had been spent as of the filing. Work started in August 2021 and is scheduled to finish in FY2030.
