Kaishin Digital Infrastructure to build 350 MW AI data center in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima
Kaishin Digital Infrastructure, a joint venture set up by Taiwan's CDIB Capital Group and Shin-Etsu Kagaku Sangyo, signed a location agreement with Satsumasendai City on 18 July 2026 to build an AI data center on the Circular Park Kyushu site, the former Sendai thermal power station. Planned investment is approximately ¥850 billion for a cumulative 350 MW of capacity, which the city describes as among the largest in Japan. The site will start with a demonstration phase and expand in stages. The city expects a further ¥2 trillion of AI server-related investment across the wider park. The company was incorporated on 20 January 2026; a five-party memorandum with Kagoshima Prefecture, Circular Park Kyushu and Kyushu Electric Power followed on 12 February 2026.
