Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has acquired industrial development land at the Choshu Dejima artificial island in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi, for Mitsubishi Shipbuilding to expand its shipbuilding capacity. The plan includes relocating some functions from the Shimonoseki Shipyard Eura Plant and building a new hull-block manufacturing plant; the project is expected to receive up to JPY 40 billion in government support.

The first building is a six-story steel-frame structure with 80,799 sqm of floor area on a 150,000 sqm site, producing fine ceramic components and semiconductor packages; Kyocera plans approximately JPY 68 billion in investment through fiscal 2028 and targets JPY 25 billion in annual sales from the plant from fiscal 2030.

Ishihara Sangyo completed and held the ceremony for a new Blue Gene blue orchid development and production facility at its Yokkaichi Plant on August 26, 2026. The facility comprises a sterile culture room for propagating seedlings, a high-temperature greenhouse for cultivation and a low-temperature greenhouse for inducing flowering, enabling integrated in-house development and stable supply of high-quality flask seedlings.
