Nippon Steel to install No. 3 coke oven at Kimitsu Works

Nippon Steel plans a new No. 3 coke oven, including associated equipment, at its East Japan Works in Kimitsu, Chiba. The project has a total planned investment of ¥39.0 billion and began in February 2022, with completion scheduled for the first half of fiscal 2026.
Hanwa established HANWA STEEL SERVICE TIJUANA, S.A. DE C.V. in Rosarito, Baja California, its second coil centre in Mexico, and began full operations in August 2026. The site covers 38,086 sqm with 9,420 sqm of buildings and cuts and sells thin steel sheet for the Tijuana-Mexicali border region, where manufacturers supplying the United States are concentrated. Coil-centre functions previously run from San Diego Vista Steel Service in the United States transfer to the new operation at the end of August 2026. No investment amount was disclosed.

Aichi Steel held the groundbreaking ceremony for a new forging plant at partner Vardhman Special Steels in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. The plant will add a hot rolling mill line, with mass production targeted for FY2028; the investment amount was not disclosed.
