Pacific Consultants to launch floating solar demonstration using perovskite panels at Nagano dam reservoir

Pacific Consultants will begin a demonstration project installing floating photovoltaic systems—including perovskite, thin-film silicon and conventional silicon modules—on a multipurpose dam reservoir in Nagano Prefecture. The project, selected under Japan's Ministry of the Environment FY2026 renewable energy demonstration program, aims to verify technical feasibility for design, construction and maintenance of floating solar on deep, water-level-fluctuating dam reservoirs, with potential future rollout to other multipurpose dams and unused water surfaces such as ports.
