Japan Blood Products Organization (JB) announced plans to build a new plant in Chitose, Hokkaido to increase production of plasma-derived medicines including immunoglobulin, amid falling domestic self-sufficiency in immunoglobulin products. Including upgrades to two existing plants, JB will invest approximately JPY 200 billion by FY2040 to double raw plasma processing capacity, aiming to raise plasma intake from 660,000 liters to 1.3 million liters by FY2035.
