Yokote-Yuzawa Forest Cycle began commercial operation of its 1,980 kW Yokote wood-biomass power plant in Akita Prefecture on June 30, 2026. A completion ceremony followed on July 16. Investor Sanyo Trading said the Yuzawa plant was scheduled to begin operation at the end of October 2026. The venture uses wood sourced in Akita Prefecture for its regional forestry and energy project.

Aisin, Toho Gas, Toyo Construction and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation will conduct a regional demonstration covering CO2 capture and liquefaction at industrial plants, e-methane production and supply, and CO2 fixation at a coastal landfill. The project will run from October 2026 through March 2031 and includes establishing operations to fix 1,000 tonnes of CO2 annually at the landfill.

Air Water has completed a demonstration facility at the Shinagawa Clean Center in Tokyo for high-CO2-concentration waste combustion under NEDO's Green Innovation Fund. Air Water designed and installed liquid oxygen supply, CO2 capture and CO2 liquefaction equipment, targeting a CO2 capture rate of more than 90% from waste treatment facilities.
