JFE Engineering will conduct Japan's first demonstration of separating and recovering CO2 from actual waste-incineration flue gas using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). The pilot will use the Clean Plaza Fujimi waste-treatment plant in Mitaka, Tokyo, and is scheduled to run through the end of FY2026, with recovery of several kilograms of CO2 per day.

GS Yuasa will develop a new manufacturing plant for stationary energy storage systems in Ibaraki Prefecture under its Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry-approved battery supply security plan.
